Group Therapy

We all live in the world alongside others and need some connection with each other. Yet how we come across to others can cause a lot of difficulties, though we may be unaware of it. This can be true in all sorts of settings – family life, friendships, relationships, at work. Being in a therapy group gives each member an opportunity to experience how they connect and relate to each other. It can generate a powerful sense of belonging and lessen social isolation, while also allowing challenges to be used creatively and constructively. Members find fresh momentum to make changes eg a different job, a new relationship, a new life direction.

Joining a group can be daunting initially but I find that members settle into a group and find it a helpful experience. I work to make the environment feel safe and confidential so that communication can be as open as possible. I also help group members to understand what is going on between them as the group comes together.

A group usually consists of between 6-8 members meeting either once or twice a week. Each session last 90 minutes. Depending on the type of group, the group may finish within a set number of weeks or may be open-ended. We can discuss what sort of group would help you best.

I’ll keep an eye out for you… my dogs will let me know when you get here.
